Privacy policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 27 October 2026

This policy explains how The Unusual Travel Company (“Vuyo”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use the Vuyo website. It is written to reflect how the website works today and to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made under it.

1. Information we collect

Visitors browsing Vuyo
You can browse, search and save experiences without creating an account. Experiences you save and the city you choose are stored only in your own browser (local storage) on your device; they are not sent to or stored on our servers.
Organisers submitting an event
When you submit an event we collect the details you enter: event name, category, city, date and time, venue or online link, description, price, host or organiser name, optional host description, website or social profile, the registration or ticket link, optional images, and a contact email address or phone number.
Administrators
Vuyo's administrator signs in to manage listings. A strictly necessary sign-in cookie is used only for that purpose.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver and secure the website.

2. Booking, registration and payment information

Vuyo does not currently take bookings, sell tickets or process payments on its website. Each listing's “Book Now” or “Register” button opens the registration or ticketing page chosen by the organiser. Registration, payment, confirmation, changes and refunds are completed there, under that organiser's or platform's own terms. Vuyo therefore does not collect your registration details, payment card details or booking confirmations. Information you provide on an organiser's or ticketing platform's page is governed by their privacy policy.

3. How we use personal information

  • To review, verify and, if approved, publish event listings and host profiles.
  • To contact an organiser about a submission - for example, to ask for clarification or confirm details.
  • To notify Vuyo's administrator by email when a new event is submitted (the alert contains the event title, organiser name and submission time).
  • To email the organiser at the contact email address they provided when their submission is approved or needs changes.
  • To operate, secure and improve the website.

4. What is published

Approved listings show the event details and host information (name, image, description, website or social links). The contact email or phone number you provide for verification is never published.

5. Sharing with service providers

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Vuyo, and only as needed:

  • Website and database hosting providers, which store and serve the website and its data.
  • An email delivery provider, used to send submission alerts to Vuyo's administrator and review updates to organisers.
  • Image hosting services that serve some photographs shown on the site; your browser connects to them directly to load images.
  • Where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Vuyo, its users or others.

6. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies

Vuyo does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Visitors' saved experiences and city preference use your browser's local storage, which you can clear at any time through your browser settings. The administrator sign-in uses a single strictly necessary cookie. If we introduce analytics in future, we will update this policy first.

7. Third-party websites and services

Listings link to organisers' registration and ticketing pages, and our share and “Add to calendar” options open services such as WhatsApp, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and Google Calendar when you choose them. These services are operated by third parties and have their own privacy policies.

8. Retention

We retain organiser submissions and contact details only for as long as necessary for platform operations, event administration, dispute resolution and applicable legal obligations. Rejected and unfinished submissions are reviewed periodically by an administrator and deleted or anonymised when no longer needed; records connected to an active dispute, legal obligation or other legitimate operational need are kept until that need ends. These reviews are carried out manually - there is no automatic deletion. [To be confirmed before final publication: specific retention periods]. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see section 10).

9. Security and access

The website is served over HTTPS. Access to the administration area is restricted to authorised administrators through a password-protected sign-in. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

10. Your rights and requests

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and raise a grievance. Write to vuyoexperiences@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

11. Children's privacy

Vuyo lists some family and children's experiences for parents and guardians, but the website is not intended for children to submit information. Event submissions should be made by adults. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Vuyo changes. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
